Christmas Party for CWDs

Annual Inclusive Children’s Party – December 23, 2024

Ability Sports Africa (ASA) proudly continued its tradition of organizing an inclusive children’s party at the end of each year, fostering advocacy and inclusion for children with disabilities. The event’s primary goal is to ensure that children with disabilities in Uganda experience a festive celebration, something that is often out of reach for many of them.

This year, the party saw a tremendous turnout, with 40 children with various disabilities and their parents enjoying a day of fun and inclusion. The event also welcomed over 300 children from the wider community, without disabilities, who joined in the celebrations. The children had the chance to perform in music, engage in adaptive sports and games, and receive thoughtful gifts from friends and well-wishers.

Fundraising Success

Thanks to the generous support of donors, both local and national, ASA managed to raise $900 through online campaigns and physical engagement. This funding was pivotal in organizing the event and ensuring that every child had a chance to participate and feel special.

Highlights of the Event:

  • Inclusive Sports and Games: Children with disabilities actively participated in adaptive games, promoting inclusivity and equality in play.
  • Music and Performances: Children had the opportunity to showcase their talents, performing music and participating in group activities.
  • Gift Giving: Gifts were provided by ASA and its supporters, bringing joy to the children and their families.
  • Community Engagement: The event fostered a sense of unity, with both children with disabilities and their peers without disabilities coming together to celebrate.

The success of the 2024 event was a testament to the hard work of the ASA team and the generosity of its supporters. It’s an important reminder of how such events can create lasting memories and open doors for inclusion, ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, gets to enjoy the magic of the season.
