Inclusive Sports in Schools and Communities
Ability Sports Africa (ASA) organizes weekly inclusive games and sports activities for children and youth with disabilities in both schools and community settings. Adaptive sports have become a core tool in our work, helping children with disabilities build confidence, self-esteem, and social well-being.
To date, our programs have reached over 1,500 children with disabilities across 30 schools in the West Acholi sub-region. Through these activities, we have seen significant improvements in physical literacy and increased acceptance of children with disabilities in sports. Our inclusive approach has contributed to reducing barriers to participation in both sports and creative arts, encouraging more active engagement from children who are often left out.
As a result of our efforts, we are witnessing a positive shift in attitudes, with more children being socially accepted and a noticeable reduction in discrimination and stigma in the schools and communities where we work.
We welcome volunteers and partners to join us in expanding these impactful activities to more schools and communities across Uganda.
