Musema Faruk is a dedicated sports personality, adaptive sports coach, and disability inclusion advocate in Uganda. Driven by his love for children, he founded a safe space to empower and build confidence in underprivileged children across Africa. His vision is to create a continent where children with disabilities thrive in sports and creative arts.

Brendan Aylward (He/Him)

Resource & Partnership Director

Brendan Aylward is the founder and executive director of AdaptX. His career has revolved around inclusion in sports and fitness since he was 15. Several thousand hours of volunteering with organizations like Special Olympics, Best Buddies, and Team Hoyt have taken him around the world to coach, train, and race.

Okwonga Charles (He/Him)

Chairperson

Charles is a Para athlete who has experienced the transformative power of adaptive sports firsthand. Growing up as a landmine survivor, he faced discrimination, but sports provided him with a safe space to demonstrate his abilities and thrive.

Selma Scheewe (She/Her)

V. Chairperson

Selma Scheewe holds a Masters Degree in Humanitarian Action from the University of Groningen. She has worked in international development for 15 years for various NGOs and knowledge institutes in Africa, Europe and the USA,

Treasurer

Her disability did not prevent her from pursuing her studies in accounting. She is a powerful example to many girls with disabilities, showing that they can succeed through education.
