Adapt X, in partnership with Ability Sports Africa, organized the first-ever UNIFIED 5K race for everyone. This event is part of a series of races held in the US by Adapt X. Through this collaboration, ASA and Adapt X hosted Uganda’s inaugural unified race, attracting 670 participants. Among them, over 350 people with disabilities took part. The race served as an advocacy event aimed at fostering positive attitudes toward disability. Participants came from neighboring districts including Gulu, Nwoya, Amuru, and Lira City. The event also welcomed participants from partner schools such as Gulu Primary School, Prison Primary, St. Jude Home, Laroo Primary School, and Thumps Up Primary School. The race featured the presence of Uganda Paralympic coaches and officials, who supported the event and selected athletes for this year’s world championships. Local partners who supported the race included Lightray Uganda, Children Care Uganda, Elephante Commons, Elevate Water, and Gulu Disabled Persons Union.
