Welcome to Ability Sports Africa Blog 2025″
Ability Sports Africa is the first organization in Uganda, Africa to use adaptive games and sports as a platform for social inclusion, advocacy on disability in schools and communities within Uganda, through our work we have witnessed the power of sports in fostering inclusion and social well being for children with disabilities and their peers, ASA has been pushing this agenda through hard and thin, disability are always looked at as a very expensive venture that’s the reason why their limited funding to promote inclusive sports in Africa, ASA has failed to secure foreign funding to promote sports for inclusion, this shows the amount of negative attitudes people still have when it comes promoting inclusion through sports.
Over the years has ASA created its own ways of implementing her activities with locally available resources, adaptation of play materials, offering specialized trainings to coaches and games and sports teachers in schools to promote inclusive sports activities within Uganda, and having like minded volunteers and passionate sports personalities who enjoy engaging children with disabilities in sports.
Since the organisation formation in 2020 we have trained a total of 160 coaches across 80 primary schools in Uganda, we organized 6 inclusive sports festival aimed at improving their physical and mental and to advocate for their rights in the community. These has been a big journey that was affected by COVID-19 and Funding but the only hope was the passion and empathy our team have towards achieving inclusion through sports.
We are looking for partners and donors who are interested in achieving this vision together.
